But, he doesn't like to be in the presence of a fellow stallion. He will assert himself to any other horse it he comes in contact with them. He'll normally do this by rearing in front of them. He loves to fight other stallions, and will look for a fight if he needs to blow off steam.
Beneath that tough exterior though is a tortured soul. His past left him scarred internally.
History: Zain was born in the desert to a mare called Naida. He did not know who his father was, and regretted never knowing him. His mother raised him on her own, and they were happy. However, Zain never had any friends while he was young. Due to this, he doesn't really know how to react too well with others. This is why he is so aggressive. He always asked about his father as well. All he knew was that he was an Arabian like his mother. That was all she would ever tell him.
When he was still young, his mother suddenly disappeared. She was nowhere to be found. He did find her however. With a stallion he had never seen before. But she didn't want to be there. The stallion was holding her there, backed up against a dune. He was talking to her like she was his. She didn't like that. She had never belonged to anyone, so she fought back. The stallion won however. And it was all Zain's fault. He had come charging in, like an idiot. His mother was distracted for only a moment, but the stallion took that moment to strike back.
His mother lay in the sand, bleeding heavily. When she died, Zain was truly scarred. It was all his fault... He had been the one who distracted her, and the stallion taunted him with this. Then, the stallion reared and gave him the scar that marks him for life. He never saw the stallion again, and he wandered the desert. He got stronger, and he masked his pain with a tough exterior.

"Mother," he called to her from behind the dunes. He dashed to her aid, sure that he could help her win the fight. He kept running and his mother turned to him. "No, Zain! Go back! The large bay stallion in front of her reared and struck his mother on the head. She fell to the ground in a large pile of dust. Then, the stallion kept coming down on her. Zain stopped dead in his tracks.
This was a vicious killing. The stallion had no right to say that Zain's mother was his. Zain began galloping again. The stallion was too busy bashing his mother to realize that Zain was there. He bit him hard, and drew blood from his hindquarters. But he was too late. His mother was no longer breathing. 'It's all my fault,' he thought to himself. The stallion turned on him, and kicked him in the muzzle. Zain was surprised that that hit hadn't broken anything.
"That's right," the stallion taunted as Zain sank to the ground. "You worthless whelp! You should bow before me!" He reared and brought his hooves down on Zain's back. "Just think," the stallion said. "You could have saved her if you hadn't been so slow!

Zain woke with a start. The pain felt so real. That had all happened 3 years ago, when he was very young. He curled up tighter near the dune, shivering against the still fresh nightmare. He was still dreaming about that. He would never live it down...
